A collaboration with filmmaker Matt West and dancer Louis McMiller

Matt West and I first talked about collaborating back in 2017, but I decided to wait until I had a piece of work that felt truly special — something worthy of the treatment we had in mind. The idea was shelved for a while.

Then, during a photoshoot with photographer Chris Bulezuik, I saw my latest creation, Lacewing, glistening like mercury on the model’s skin — and I knew instantly that this was the piece that needed to be captured on film.

I’d always imagined working with a male dancer for this project, and through Jenna Lee — a previous collaborator — I was introduced to Louis McMiller, a graduate of The Royal Ballet School and a former dancer with Studio Wayne McGregor.
