The original Verto necklace — my first extra large collar — was commissioned in 2010 by collector Tuan Lee. The name Verto is a Latin word meaning “change” or “turn,” which felt fitting for both the form of the piece and the direction it marked in my practice.

At its core is a custom extruded silicone spine - a mechanism I developed myself - which allows the necklace to flex in every direction and twist into a variety of dramatic silhouettes. As the wearer moves, it moves too, responding like a living form.

Verto subsequently evolved into a series of necklaces with the same structure but with variations in size, colour and materials, making each iteration unique.
